PlayTivity is Beacon’s newest daycare, located in the former BCAP space (Be As Creative As Possible). Nestled in the interactive indoor/outdoor space at 20 West Center Street near Brett’s Hardware, PlayTivity is owned by Margaret Watkinson. It is a daycare/childcare and preschool, licensed by the Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) for children ages 33 months through 4.
PlayTivity offers full and half day options on a space available basis. Plans for the future include becoming a UPK site for the City of Beacon Schools.
PlayTivity's classroom is warm and spacious, with quiet, active, and messy areas where children can join peers in a variety of playful activities. The space is a single classroom, designed with areas that offer a variety of play materials and options - blocks and building; inviting sand and sensory play; a versatile dramatic play area with loft; a variety of art materials to inspire experimentation; and an area for both group and solo activities. Each day includes singing and movement, outdoor play, early language and literacy activities that always includes story-telling, illustrating and reading aloud.
PlayTivity provides young children with achievable challenges with predictable routines an that ensure growth and development across all domains so they will embrace their future social, academic and physical experiences! Margaret and her staff’s vision for little ones is to have each child confidently communicate their ideas and needs in a variety of ways. Open 5 days per week, and PlayTivity is a small program that offers a ‘summer camp’ for preschoolers and accepts enrollment on a rolling basis until full.
