It's here! A Little Beacon Blog's first Gift Guide in quite some time. For Valentine's Day, this one focuses on some shops on Beacon's East End near the mountain. There is some very serious shopping down there, from high end to vintage, to world famous chocolate to marshmallows to even rentable fashion. In other news, Beacon is warming up to events as the indoor mask mandate in business comes down (for now) and the ice melts (before another snowfall?), with the introduction of a new lantern celebration concept is introduced from a group calling themselves the Beacon Spring. It's an organized walk down the sidewalks of Main Street with lanterns and lights to celebrate spring coming. You could duck into a shop real quick to pick up something cute and hop back in the parade! Read all about it here. Traffic remains an issue, but it seems some people are trying harder to stop at crosswalks and drive the speed limit. Sadly, a 2 car collision resulted in death on Fishkill Avenue, followed hours later by a drunk driver hitting a parked police officer's car who had his emergency lights on while the earlier accident was being investigated.
