Public Hearing for a Proposed Local Law Amending the Zoning Map Concerning East Main Street
Editor’s Note: This was triggered because Trax was trying to sell their commercial space, and prospective buyers were told that this unit and building was not zoned for retail, therefore could not have a cafe, as Trax is a cafe now.
Public Hearing for a Proposed Local Law Concerning Use Regulations for Drive-Through Facilities and Self-Storage Businesses
Editor’s Note: This was triggered because the Healey Dealership moved their car dealership out of Beacon, but retained some property. They have proposed to build a Dunkin’ Donuts (which is a franchise, so is considered independently owned and small business). Overall, the current City Council wants to zone out all auto-related businesses. Which puts existing auto-related businesses there at risk. This move for anti-drive-thrus is part of that broader vision.
There is a Self-Storage business just up the road, but this administration wants to ban them for some reason. Many people use self-storage facilities, especially when living in small 1-2 bedroom apartments, which this administration is keen on encouraging.

Local Laws and Resolutions
Editor's Note: After years of resistance, this administration is working to make it easier to have Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) on Single Family Home properties. There is money coming to the table from New York State for low income-qualified homeowners. So the administration is moving this forward.
